Privacy Policy for Train To Negotiate

Effective date: October 22, 2026

Train To Negotiate is a practice platform: you negotiate against AI opponents, and a referee debriefs you after each match. To do that we have to store what you write in a match. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who helps us process it, and the rights you have, including under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal data collected through https://traintonegotiate.com and the related services we provide (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

What we collect

  • Account information: your first name, email address, and, if you set one, a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, your email address and your Google account identifier; we use them only to sign you in and to recognise your account next time.
  • Match content: everything you write or say in a match, the opponent's replies, the referee's per-turn judgments and the debrief. This is the core of the Service: it lets you review past matches and track your progress through a course.
  • Voice input: if you use voice mode, your recording is sent to a speech-to-text provider to turn it into text. We keep the text, not the recording. Opponent replies may be turned into speech by a text-to-speech provider.
  • Progress and usage: which cases you played, results, course progress, and a per-account record of how much AI processing your matches used (so we can understand costs).
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and request logs our servers keep to run and secure the Service. Bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA) runs on the sign-in and registration forms.
  • Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies: pages visited and how the site is used (see "Cookies" below).
  • Payment data: for subscriptions, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We receive limited information such as your subscription status and billing dates.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email.

How we use your data

  • To run your account and sign you in
  • To run matches: generate the opponent's replies, judge each turn and write your debrief
  • To show your history, progress and remaining matches
  • To process subscriptions and send transactional emails (sign-in codes, welcome, billing)
  • To send occasional product news, only if you opted in
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems
  • To understand site usage and improve the Service, if you accepted analytics cookies
  • To comply with legal obligations

We never sell your personal data.

AI processing of your matches

Your match content is processed by AI models to play the opponent, judge your moves and write the debrief. These are third-party AI services (listed below), called by our servers on your behalf. We do not use your match content to train third-party AI models. Case authors (the trainers whose cases you play) do not see your matches.

Third-party service providers

We use these providers to deliver the Service. They process data only as needed for the service they provide to us:

  • Google Cloud (hosting, database, Vertex AI models for the opponent and the debrief, optional speech services, reCAPTCHA)
  • OpenRouter / TypeSafe (the AI model that judges each turn)
  • ElevenLabs (speech-to-text and text-to-speech in voice mode)
  • Stripe (subscription payments)
  • MailerSend (sending emails)
  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (site analytics, only with your consent)
  • Google Identity Services (only if you choose "Sign in with Google")

Email and marketing

We send transactional emails you need to use the Service (sign-in codes, account and billing messages). Product news is sent only if you opted in, and you can opt out at any time by emailing us.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and match history while your account is active, so you can review your progress. To delete your account and its data, email contact@traintonegotiate.com from the address on the account. We delete it from our active systems, and from backups as they cycle out.

Data security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest by our cloud provider, access controls and logging. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorized access.

International data transfers

Train To Negotiate is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data in other countries. When we transfer personal data from the EU or UK, we rely on the safeguards GDPR requires, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Cookies

We use only what the Service needs to work, plus analytics if you accept them. See our Cookie Policy.

Your privacy rights

Under GDPR (EU/UK residents)

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, withdraw consent at any time, object to or restrict processing, receive a portable copy, and complain to your local data protection authority.

You have the right to know what personal data we collect and how we use and share it, to ask us to delete it, to opt out of its sale (we do not sell it), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@traintonegotiate.com. For a CCPA request, put "CCPA Request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.

Children's privacy

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, technology or the Service. For significant changes we will notify you on the website or by email. The current version, with its effective date, is always available here.
